Quite simply the best English breakfast we have ever had (and we have had a lot of them!) All food is locally sourced from the Smithfield and Borough Markets. We love the red and white checked tablecloths and vintage charm, as well as scrummy sausages, and a menu with all of the possible English breakfast combinations.
London’s wholesale meat market – open to the public until 3am the market has some of the best breakfast around that cater specifically to the butchers who get off in the early hours and want a hearty meal and pint right after a long shift. Check out Cock Tavern’s butcher’s breakfast.

Basic décor adds and comfy seating add charm to the quintessential “chippie”. It is run by an Aussie and has the best English fish and chips in London (well, we think so at least). Cod is the most popular, with haddock coming in a close second. But they also have plaice, scampi and for the indecisive a delicious fish platter with a scrummy under the sea selection. Served with pickles, pickled onions and copious amounts of tartare sauce, this place is sure to satisfy any appetite. Nearest tube stop:
At Seashell, you can get a £5.50 box of London’s favourite dish, fish and chips! Be sure not to miss out on the awesome tartar sauce!
Famous 24 hour Jewish Bagel shop and deli serving up fresh carved roast beef and the best bagel and lox around. Trust us, you have never tasted anything like it. How something so simple can taste so good is one of the great mysteries of life. Simply do not leave London without trying one of these first.
For an eclectic mix of late-night ethnic foods and edgy and artistic crowds, The Brick Lane Curry Houses is the place to go! Due to competition, restaurant owners will actively fight for your business but don’t be turned off, this is simply part of the culture in this area. Shop around for the best prices for the restaurant you think looks best. We like Cinnamon at 134 Brick Lane for it’s authentic taste but if your a fan, try a few!
At one time the largest brewery in London, this revived 10-acre plot of land houses shops, pubs, restaurants, nightclubs and is filled with plenty of London’s artsy folk.
This place mixes history, great ale and fab food. Jack the Ripper’s final victim sipped her last drink in this East End institution and step in and you are definitely stepping back to Victorian London. Although the dining room is small (and a little bit hidden, go up the stairs!), the food is surprisingly good at a pub that at the outset just seems like a good watering hole.
Great coffee just by itself. And if coffee is your excuse to eat cake, pastry, brownies and all other baked goodies, Timberyard near Covent Garden is the place to go. They also have a branch in Old Street so whether you are in the East End or the West End, this place will definitely perk you up.
Chocolate, lemon chiffon, carrot, Victoria sponge, they have it all. Not to mention brownies in so many combinations you will think you died and went to Brownie Heaven. A little pricey but a basic rule of thumb – don’t waste money (or calories) on crumby cake – go straight for the best! Buy by the slice, or by the cake if you are willing to share! There are branches opening up all over London and even a cake school so you can learn how to make some of the best cakes in the world!
Flavours that will blow your mind and your taste buds. Some flavours you’ll know and love (chocolate, pistachio, sorbets), but more about the taste creations of Jacob Kennedy who has made a name for himself all around the world!
Epic sorbet and gelato flavors ranging from Chocolate & Chili to Honey with Rosemary. Eating at La Gelatiera in the heart of Covent Garden is the perfect place for an after-dinner treat!
